Qualifications

• Associate, Diploma, Bachelor’s or Master’s in Nursing.
• Current Illinois RN license.

• ACLS within 6 months of hire, plus related unit ACLS certifications.
• TNCC within 1 year of hire or residency graduation.
• ECRN within 18 months of hire or residency graduation.
• NRP within 6 months of hire; NRP & PALS within 6 months for pediatrics.
• Oncology/infusion certifications via ONS where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide support to patient and families.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individual care plan with the health care team.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote and maintain health.
• Demonstrate clinical judgement and critical thinking to respond to patient changes.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in medical records.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development for patient safety and quality.
• Supervise and delegate to licensed practical nurses and unlicensed staff.
• Advocate for the patient through collaboration with health professionals.
• Complete required education, competencies, and licensure on time.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency.

• Provide in health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients
• Demonstrate ability to use clinical judgement in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
• Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
• Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
• Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
• Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level
