Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for wound care on a PRN basis. The role involves 12-hour shifts, day/night rotations, and potential weekend and holiday coverage. RN licensure in North Carolina or a compact state is required, with BSN preferred.

The RN will provide wound care for patients of all ages, document medical necessity, and help revise interdisciplinary care plans. Ongoing education and policy adherence are expected.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license or compact state license.
• Associate's degree required; BSN preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• One year of nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs wound care for patients of all ages and related nursing tasks.
• Completes documentation of medical necessity in the medical record.
• Assists with interdisciplinary care planning and data conferences.
• Adheres to policies and care protocols.
• Participates in continuing education as directed by the Program Director.

The Wound Care RN is responsible for all assigned nursing care activities to include but not limited to wound care for patients of all ages and other clinical activities associated with providing safe patient care. The RN is responsible for following all WHC policies and procedures, care protocols and Diversified Clinical Services Practice Guidelines, as directed by a Registered Nurse, or Physician. The RN will be responsible for assisting with patient and wound care data conferences, and continuing education is required as determined by the Program Director.

How you'll contribute

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs


• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions


• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient


• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record


• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient


• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for

Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.

• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.


• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.


• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.


• One year of experience preferred


• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
