Job Description - Registered Nurse (RN) - Surg Tele - Nights (2300034J)

The UH Surgical Telemetry floor is a 32 bed unit specializing in the care of the post-operative patient. Common surgical procedures include total hip and knee replacements, laminectomies and discectomies, abdominal surgeries and women's health procedures.

Sign on bonus for Experienced RN's is $6000 and for New Grads it is $3000.

Position Summary

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Essential Functions

  1. Implements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship based nursing care.
  2. Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes.
  3. Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.
  4. Develops self and contributes to the professional practice of nursing.
  5. Displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes.

Required For All Jobs

  1. Performs other duties as assigned.
  2. Complies with all policies and standards.
  3. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  4. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education

  1. Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  1. Knowledge of nursing process and practice. Required
  2. Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices). Required

Licenses and Certifications

  1. Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio Required
  2. Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
  3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on clinical area standards.
  4. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on clinical area standards.
