About the Clinic

VCU Health's Waterside Commons Clinic, located in Prince George, VA, provides exceptional multispecialty care to adult and pediatric patients. Our team offers opportunities to work across various specialties and family medicine in a community setting. Clinic hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, with no weekends, nights, or holidays required.

Ideal Candidate

We seek nurses who value teamwork, collaborative problem solving, and adaptability in a multispecialty environment. Ambulatory experience is preferred.

Job Levels and Responsibilities
Clinical Nurse I

Integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet patient and family needs. Assists in prevention, wellness, and comfort, providing direction, education, and developing leadership skills. Delivers and documents age-specific care based on medical orders and multidisciplinary plans. Administers medications safely, recognizing interactions.

Clinical Nurse II

Demonstrates mastery in clinical skills, applies knowledge to specific patient populations, recognizes changes in patient conditions, and intervenes appropriately. Provides direction, education, and leadership at the unit level. Delivers and documents age-specific care and safely administers medications.

Clinical Nurse III

Shows clinical knowledge at the unit level, anticipates patient needs, and serves as a role model. Provides direction, education, and applies clinical knowledge to patient care, ensuring safety and effectiveness.

Licensure and Certification Requirements

For hire: Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible/compact state. For continued employment: Valid RN licensure and AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

Clin I: N/A

Clin II: 12-24 months RN experience

Clin III: 3 years clinical experience

Preferred Experience

Clin I: Experience as LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in relevant settings

Clin II & III: Healthcare experience with similar patient populations

Education/Training

All levels: Diploma or Associate's Degree from an approved nursing program. Nurses without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in an RN to BSN program within two years and complete it within five years unless grandfathered.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or higher; Clin III: Certification in specialty area.

Independent Actions

Follow physician/licensed provider orders, practice within Virginia regulations, guided by ANA Code of Ethics, national standards, and hospital policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Organizes work and delegates tasks to team members, including RNs, LPNs, Care Partners, and secretaries.

Additional Requirements

Serves appropriate age groups, performs physical activities, and handles hazardous/infectious substances. Must be capable of prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and other physical activities. Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, communication skills, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment are essential.
