VCU Health’s Waterside Commons Clinic, located in Prince George, VA, provides exceptional care to multispecialty adult & pediatric patients. As an RN, you will work across various specialties and family medicine, serving a diverse community. Our clinic hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm, with no weekends, nights, or holidays required.

The Clinical Nurse I role involves applying technical skills and knowledge to meet patient and family needs, assisting in prevention, wellness, and comfort, and beginning to develop leadership skills. This role provides direct, age-specific care based on medical orders and multidisciplinary plans, safely administering medications and identifying interactions.

The Clinical Nurse II role demonstrates mastery of clinical skills, assisting the healthcare team with prevention, maintenance, and comfort. It involves recognizing patient changes, intervening appropriately, and assuming leadership responsibilities. Similar to Nurse I, it delivers and documents care and safely administers medications.

The Clinical Nurse III role requires advanced clinical knowledge, anticipating patient needs, providing mentorship, and serving as a role model. It also involves delivering age-specific care, administering medications safely, and applying comprehensive clinical expertise.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:

  • Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible/compact state
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent for continued employment

Experience REQUIRED:

  • Clin I: N/A
  • Clin II: 12-24 months RN experience
  • Clin III: 3 years clinical experience

Experience PREFERRED:

  • Clin I: Experience as LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner
  • Clin II & III: Healthcare experience with similar patient populations

Education/training REQUIRED:

  • Diploma or Associate Degree from an approved nursing program
  • All RNs without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in an RN to BSN program within two years and complete it within five years.

Education/training PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher
  • Specialty certification for Clin III

Independent actions include:

  • Following physician/licensed provider orders
  • Practicing within Virginia nursing regulations
  • Adhering to ANA Code of Ethics and established standards

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Clin I, II, III: Organize work, delegate, and supervise others

Additional requirements:

  • Serve age-specific groups as appropriate
  • Physical requirements include lifting 20-50 lbs, exposure to hazardous substances, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching
  • Must have strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking, writing, reading, and logical thinking skills
  • Work in a fast-paced, noisy environment, handle multiple priorities, and customer interactions
