Job summary

Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Vascular Access Team. You will perform midlines insertion, ultrasound-guided PIVs, and PICC placement when competent, while collaborating on infection prevention and safety initiatives in a major acute care facility.

The role requires a Virginia RN license, 1 year acute care experience, BLS and ACLS within 30 days of start. Full-time schedule 8:00 am–8:30 pm with rotating weekends.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Multistate Compact required.
  • 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting required.
  • 1 year of ICU or ED nursing experience preferred.
  • 1 year of IV Therapy and Vascular Access Management preferred.
  • BLS or BCLS Certification required.
  • ACLS Certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • PICC Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Insert Midlines and Ultrasound Guided PIVs.
  • Insertion of PICC’s (preferred if competency).
  • Assist Quality and Infection Prevention with CLABSI reduction.
  • Troubleshoot obstructed central lines and administer Cathflo when necessary.
  • Educate staff on safe line maintenance and care.
  • Assess patients for peripheral access needs.
  • Determine the most appropriate access device for therapy.

Schedule: Full Time. 8:00 am to 8:30 pm. Rotating weekends.

Job Summary And Qualifications
What you will do in this role:
  • Insert Midlines, and Ultrasound Guided PIVs.
  • Insertion of PICC’s preferred function of role (if possess competency).
  • Assist Quality and Infection Prevention with reduction in CLABSI rates through monitoring and downgrading appropriate CVCs.
  • Troubleshoot obstructed central lines, administer Cathflo when necessary.
  • Provide education to staff about safe appropriate line maintenance and care.
  • Demonstrate early and appropriate assessment of patients requiring peripheral access.
  • Determine the most appropriate access device for prescribed therapy ordered.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License required.
  • 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting required.
  • 1 year of critical care (ICU) or emergency room (ED) nursing experience preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in IV Therapy and Vascular Access Management preferred.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • PICC Certification preferred.
