Inova Alexandria Hospital seeks an Experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor for the Progressive Care Unit. This full-time day shift role runs Monday through Friday, with some weekend shifts, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eligible nurses may receive a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Our PCU is a 52-bed Neurological/Cardiac Telemetry unit serving adult patients; nurses work 4-5 to 1 patient ratios. Inova emphasizes safety, quality, and top patient experiences across the D.C. area.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• 1+ year RN clinical experience in acute care preferred.
• Virginia RN license or eligibility under eNLC required.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification within start date.

Inova Alexandria Hospital is looking for a dedicated Experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor to join the Progressive Care team. This role will be full-time day shift from Monday - Friday (including some weekend shifts), 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available for eligible nurses.

Inova Alexandria's Hospital Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is an adult 52-bed Neurological/Cardiac Telemetry Unit. Nursing care is provided to medical, neurologic (Acute Stroke, Rule out Stroke, TIA) and cardiac patients in all phases of their disease process including initial diagnosis, treatment, and discharge. Each room is equipped with oxygen outlets, compressed air outlets and vacuum outlets. The patient population is 18 years old and older with a patient/nurse ratio of 4-5 to 1.

Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor - Progressive Care Job Responsibilities:

• Conducts high quality shift huddles by communicating strategic priorities related to target, actual and gap barriers in addition to small tests of change, results of rounding, challenges, celebrations and other matters
• Conducts effective safety huddles and conducts or appropriately delegates all environmental and safety rounding and conducts and ensures that Patient, Medical Director and RN rounding is completed for areas of responsibility
• Rounds on staff continually and serves to remove or escape barriers to providing quality care while enhancing staff engagement
• Reviews core measures, key performance indicators and other metrics relevant to unit/patient populations and participates in the analysis of unit based service outcomes as well as development of action plans that lead to systematic improvements in outcomes
• Participates in emergency and safety preparedness drills/trainings as required
• Ensures adherence to The Joint Commission standards that are relevant to areas of responsibility and ensures that team members are knowledgeable of related standards
• Contributes to professional decision making to support and/or implement unit based quality improvement work and strategic outcomes
• Serves as role model to others in communication to patients, identifying concerns, diffusing potentially difficult situations and facilitating resolution

Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor - Progressive Care Additional Requirements:

• Work schedule: 3 12-hour shifts (Monday - Friday {including some weekend shifts} days, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.)
• Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate's degree (ADN); must be within one (1) year of completing BSN
• Experience: Requires a minimum of 1-year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
• Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start. Specialty certification (as required by unit) within one (1) year from date of hire. Completion of a revised Charge Nurse workshop within the first 90 days (3 months) of employment

Previous experience in Progressive Care, Intermediate Care, Intensive Care, Neuro and Cardiac Telemetry strongly preferred.
