Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking an experienced RN Unit Coordinator for its Surgical Unit in Norfolk, VA. The role supports patient care in a telemetry-monitored unit, with shifts on Weekend Nights (7p–7a). The unit handles diverse surgical specialties and patients with renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure.

A BSN is required; a Master's is preferred if the graduate degree is not in nursing. BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• 18-months nursing experience required.
• BSN degree required; if the graduate degree is not in nursing, the BSN is required.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care.
• Under the direction of the department manager, leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on workflow, and contributes to staff development.

While working in this unit you will care for patients that have renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure for a well-rounded nursing experience. This is a telemetry-monitored unit. The average patient stay is 3-4 days. This unit also has 6 beds that are for Epilepsy monitoring and is the Living Kidney Donor Transplant Unit.
