Night Shift Weekend Option, will include Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7 P.M - 7 A.M.

JOB SUMMARY:

This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses with more than 12 months of experience. It involves providing and coordinating independent care to patients within a clinical specialty as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. The nurse utilizes the institution’s care delivery and professional practice models as the reference for practicing as a professional nurse. The role includes participating in activities to develop personal practice and support group practice goals at the unit level. The nurse is accountable to patients, families, and team members for the care provided, and to the nurse manager for overall work performance. Adherence to Service Standards and alignment with the Nursing Mission, Vision, and Values are essential.

Must meet and maintain all Weekend Option requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by personnel in this classification. They are not exhaustive of all duties.

Clinical Practice:
  • Competency in caring for the unit-specific patient population; practices independently with solid knowledge and clinical skills; actively advances own practice.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for others.
  • Applies and integrates evidence into practice.
  • Functions effectively in roles specific to the unit, such as arrest team for ICU, triage for ED, etc.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care; advocates independently for patient/family needs.
  • Models practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered care.
Professional Development:
  • Engaged in advancing own practice.
  • Responsible for maintaining competencies required for the patient care setting; focuses on professional growth.
  • Attends unit-based staff development independently.
  • Capable of serving as a trained preceptor and coach for new nurses and students.
  • Contributes to developing and evaluating unit-based orientation and other educational activities.
  • Supports nursing personnel skills and development.
  • Completes CE’s annually as per facility requirements.
Service/Quality:
  • Contributes to unit-based outcomes related to National Hospital Quality Measures, Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators, and Facility Operational Plans.
  • Supports research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provides high-quality, safe, patient-centered care, exceeding service expectations.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and participates in tracer activities as needed.
Patient Safety:
  • Acts to correct observed risks to patient safety.
  • Reports adverse events and near misses appropriately.
  • Implements policies and procedures consistently.
  • Maintains effective communication and good working relationships with team members.
  • Identifies potential risks and communicates them to management.
  • Participates in safety initiatives at various organizational levels.
Operations:
  • Demonstrates ability to function as a charge nurse.
  • Participates in team-building efforts and unit meetings.
  • Contributes to governance structures and recruitment activities.
  • Provides performance feedback as directed by the nurse manager.

This position requires a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, the ability to work under stress, professionalism, workload prioritization, and willingness to travel between facilities.
