This role is considered the minimum for all nurses with greater than 12 months of experience. The nurse provides and coordinates independent care within a clinical specialty as a fully effective member of the multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include utilizing the institution’s care models, participating in practice development, and being accountable to patients, families, team members, and the nurse manager, while adhering to Service Standards and Nursing Mission, Vision, and Values.

Responsibilities include:

1. Providing competent, independent care for unit-specific patient populations.
2. Serving as a clinical resource and applying evidence-based practices.
3. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and advocating for patient/family needs.
4. Modeling safe, timely, effective, and patient-centered care.
5. Engaging in professional development activities, maintaining competencies, and serving as a preceptor.
6. Contributing to quality improvement, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
7. Ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
8. Participating in leadership roles, team-building, and organizational governance.

Minimum requirements:

• Maryland RN licensure or eligibility via Compact agreements.
• At least 12 months of nursing experience with solid clinical skills.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• Unit-specific certifications such as PALS and ACLS.
