Additional Information About the Role

Caring for Cardiac Thoracic Surgery Patients including post Open Heart, Lobectomies, Valve Replacement and Post Cardiac Cath Unstable Telemetry. 9T also cares for acute recovery of TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement), LAAO (Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion) and Triple A repairs.

Northwest HealthCare, six miles west of Christian, offers 24-hour emergency care, a Sleep Disorders Center, and outpatient diagnostic and imaging services.

The Telemetry Units can house 21 patients, with 10 semi-private rooms and 1 private room. Also, consider the swing rooms in AMCU. Four semi-private rooms are dedicated to the CTS unit with bedside monitors.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing their illness, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participates in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with defined goals, collaborating with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver, ensuring communication across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards. Considers patient preferences, values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
• This is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is essential.
