VCU Health is seeking Clinical Nurses (I, II, III) to provide essential healthcare to diverse patients. The Clinical Nurse roles integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet patient and family needs. These roles assist the healthcare team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. They provide direction, education, and begin to acquire leadership skills at the unit level.
Responsibilities include delivering and accurately documenting age-specific care based on medical orders and an interdisciplinary plan of care, as well as safely administering prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and interactions.
All roles follow documented physician or licensed provider orders and practice within Virginia regulations, adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics and hospital policies. Supervisory responsibilities include organizing work and delegating tasks to team members. Clinicians work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, with schedules established by management.
Physical demands include lifting 20-50 lbs, prolonged standing and sitting, and other activities. Mental skills required include strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, and effective communication. The environment is fast-paced with frequent customer interactions.
