Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgical Trauma PCU – Full-time, 7P

High acuity Surgical Trauma PCU department is looking for top skilled nurses. Is that you?

Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1304 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

Work hours: Full-time, 36 hours weekly, 3-12 hours shifts, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am

Department highlights:

1. 17-bed Surgical Trauma PCU
2. The Surgical Trauma Progressive Care Unit provides care to a patient population with trauma related injuries and pre- and post-surgical patients requiring specialized monitoring and interventions. Cares for patients sustaining sudden multi-system injuries; including blunt and/or penetrating trauma injuries, continuous cardiac monitoring, management of chest tubes, wound/skin care, titration of insulin drips for patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) diagnosis, respiratory compromised patients that require specialized equipment including continuous respiratory interventions, and tracheostomy care, multi-system organ failure, respiratory distress, sepsis, hematology, GI Bleeds, Renal/Liver Failure, Acid-Base and Electrolyte Imbalances, and cardiac abnormalities.

Here’s What You Need:

1. Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
2. Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
3. BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
4. ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
5. CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 60 days of hire
6. 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
7. PCU/Telemetry experience preferred – will consider strong Medical Surgical Candidates.

In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will:

1. demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
2. maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients
3. possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
4. have basic computer skills using medical management application systems

What You Will Do:

1. Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
2. assesses the patient
3. plans the care of the patient
4. intervenes as appropriate
5. evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
6. Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
7. Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
8. Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
