Job summary

Centerpoint – Versailles is seeking a Surgical Float RN for a part-time/PRN role. The position supports general surgery services with no weekend or holiday requirements and a 4-shift in 6-week schedule to help maintain staffing and patient flow.

You will join a multidisciplinary team delivering perioperative care in a setting with multiple OR resources, pre/ post-op suites, and strong focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

  • Current state RN license required.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • 1–2 years minimum experience as a Surgery RN.
  • 2–4 years critical care experience preferred.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS within 30 days of hire.
  • TNCC preferred; specialty certification testing within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect perioperative patient care using nursing process.
  • Perform plan of care interventions, med administration and documentation.
  • Monitor and communicate patient condition to care team and family.
  • Prepare and position patients for procedures; assist in transports.
  • Prepare surgical and endoscopy suites; ensure proper scope reprocessing.
  • Care for patients through pre- and post-procedure phases.
  • Operate equipment and maintain a safe environment.
  • Coordinate transfers, discharges and referrals with other disciplines.
  • Educate patients and families appropriate to age and culture.
  • Assist with daily living activities and advocate for patient well-being.
  • Participate in performance improvement and continuing education.

More about our team

Our general surgery staff consists of expert surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and technicians all dedicated to performing successful operations and promoting comfortable healing and recovery. Our most common surgical services consist of endo, ortho, and pain procedures. Due to the high volume of outpatient procedures, our surgery staff do not work weekends or holidays.

  • 1 PACU Bay
How you’ll contribute

Our Surgery Float RN’sprovide direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. As a Surgery Float RN you will:

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Prepares, positions, and transports patients for procedures.
  • Prepares surgical and endoscopy suites with solutions, scopes, equipment, and supplies. Validates proper reprocessing of scopes for every procedure.
  • Assesses and cares for patients throughout the perioperative process, including pre-procedure and post-procedure care.
  • Operates specialized equipment and maintains a safe environment.
  • Accounts for use of supplies during surgical/endoscopy procedures.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances throughout the perioperative process.
  • Assists patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • 1-2 years minimum experience as a Surgery RN
  • 2-4 years critical care experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire
  • Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually
  • TNCC preferred
  • Specialty Certification testing within 1 year of hire and pass within 1.5 years of hire – preferred
