Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Staff RN for the Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin in a Per Diem role. The RN will deliver direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting, coordinating with surgeons and anesthesiologists while guiding OR staff to ensure quality patient care and smooth unit operation.

The position requires active RN licensure in the state, BLS, ACLS, and PALS within specified timeframes, with a preference for BSN and CNOR certification.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• BLS (AHA) certificate required on hire and maintained.
• ACLS (AHA) certificate required within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• PALS (AHA) certificate required within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• Minimum of one year perioperative experience or on-the-job training.
• CNOR Certification (AORN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting.
• Coordinates care with the surgeon and anesthesiologist and directs OR staff.
• Maintains standards of professional nursing and assists in unit operations and patient flow.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services.

Job description

Responsibilities

Staff RN is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and older adults. The Registered Nurse coordinates the care of the patient with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, directs and guides the OR Technician and other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Works with other departments to provide a continuum of care and co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures. Responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License.

2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

3. Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

4. Current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

5. Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training

6. Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred

7. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Pay Transparency

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $43.00. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
