Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking an RN Supervisor of Case Management to provide clinical and operational leadership for the Case Management team. You will supervise staff, coordinate department operations, and oversee care coordination activities that enhance patient outcomes, resource use, and regulatory compliance.

You will partner with the Nurse Manager and Senior Director to advance departmental goals, foster staff engagement, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the case

Qualifications

• BSN degree required; Master's preferred.
• Ohio RN license in good standing required.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association required.
• Minimum five years in case management, care coordination, utilization management, discharge planning, or related clinical experience; pediatric experience preferred.
• Supervisory/leadership experience preferred; CCM/ACM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and direction within the RN scope of practice in support of organizational, departmental, and patient care goals.
• Recruits, onboards, supervises, and develops staff; establishes performance expectations and provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and evaluation.
• Assists with oversight of daily department operations, workflow management, staffing, and service delivery.
• Plans, maintains, and communicates staffing assignments to ensure appropriate coverage and effective delivery of case management services.
• Coordinates and delegates work assignments to support efficient care coordination, discharge planning, transition management, and resource utilization activities.
• Collaborates with providers, nursing, social work, ancillary departments, payers, and community resources to facilitate effective interdisciplinary care coordination and transitions of care.
• Provides direct case management, care coordination, and transition management services for identified patient populations, as needed.
• Serves as a clinical and operational resource for staff and interdisciplinary team members.
• Monitors departmental quality indicators, regulatory requirements, and performance metrics; participates in performance improvement initiatives to achieve organizational and departmental goals.
• Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards, professional practice requirements, and organizational policies.

Summary

The RN Supervisor of Case Management provides operational and clinical leadership for the Case Management team. Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of staff, coordination of department operations, and oversight of care coordination activities that support quality patient outcomes, efficient resource utilization, and regulatory compliance. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care delivery and departmental processes within the assigned practice setting in accordance with organizational and departmental standards. Partners with the Nurse Manager and Senior Director to achieve departmental and organizational goals, promote staff engagement and professional development, and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the delivery of case management services.

Technical Expertise

• Experience in case management, care coordination, utilization management, discharge planning, or related healthcare settings is required.
• Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, clinical decision-making, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, care coordination practices, and performance improvement principles is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required; Epic or comparable electronic medical record experience preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze information, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master's degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Licensure: Current, valid, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio required.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.

• Certified Case Manager (CCM), Accredited Case Manager (ACM), or other nationally recognized care management certification preferred.

• Years of relevant experience: Minimum of five years of case management, care coordination, utilization management, discharge planning, or related clinical experience required. Pediatric experience preferred.
• Years of supervisory experience: Previous leadership, supervisory, charge nurse, lead, preceptor, project leadership, or team leadership experience preferred.
