UC Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor for the Emergency Department at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The RN Supervisor will support UCMC's Emergency Room, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care, and according to policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Supervises staff assigned to their unit or center of excellence and demonstrates the ability to coach and mentor staff. Provides operational leadership during shifts, managing patient flow and resource allocation to meet changing needs. Champions efficient throughput and capacity management. Leads and implements operational improvements, ensuring staff compliance with UC Health values, mission, and vision. Supports departmental standards, policies, and procedures. Responsible for staffing and scheduling. Promotes patient safety standards, identifies opportunities for patient satisfaction improvements, and facilitates conflict resolution. Empowers staff participation in decision-making and supports professional development.

Resource Management:

  • Uses resources efficiently to support patient care. Ensures availability and functionality of necessary equipment and supplies. Participates in hiring, staff orientation, and professional development. Provides coaching, performance appraisals, and counseling. Promotes staff retention and team collaboration.

Performance Improvement/Regulatory Requirements:

  • Ensures compliance with medical laws (EMTALA, HIPAA, House Bill 316), corporate policies, and accreditation standards. Engages staff in quality improvement activities. Monitors and evaluates patient care and staff performance through observations, documentation reviews, and feedback.

Clinical Resource and Competency:

  • Maintains nursing competencies and facilitates ongoing education. Acts as a clinical resource, promoting evidence-based practices and staff professional growth.
