Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Step-Down Unit on a full-time basis with weekend night shifts (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon, 7p–7a). The unit is a brand-new 24-bed Medicine unit with EPIC RealTime documentation and modern charting stations.

Requirements include an RN degree and Virginia RN license; BLS within 90 days. A sign-on bonus up to $15,000 and relocation packages are available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• RN Degree REQUIRED.
• Virginia RN License REQUIRED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire.
• Prior RN experience PREFERRED.

Responsibilities

• The RN is responsible to perform nursing care as per the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• All Direct Care RNs must have BLS within 90 days of hire.

Overview

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
