Job summary

UMC Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the STAR PRN role in Lubbock, TX. The selected nurse will assess patients pre-procedure, provide teaching, and coordinate pre-surgical testing and registration to ensure safe and efficient care.

Qualifications include a nursing degree, Texas license or compact licensure, CPR certification, and the potential to obtain a BSN within 3 years. Prior acute care experience is required, with certifications preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Valid Texas Nursing License or Compact Licensure.
  • Current CPR certification from American Heart Association.
  • BSN required or must obtain within 3 years of hire.
  • Certification preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of acute care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate patient's physical status via nursing assessment before surgery.
  • Provide preoperative or pre-procedure teaching/education to patients.
  • Coordinate pre-surgical testing and registration as part of STAR Center processes.

Registered Nurse (RN) STAR PRN UMC Health System Lubbock, Texas

The STAR Center has identified its scope of care to include pre-anesthesia care; specifically, to 1) prepare the patient for surgery/procedure by assessing and evaluating his/her physical status via nursing assessment, 2) by providing preoperative or pre-procedure teaching/education, 3) to complete pre-surgical testing and registration.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Valid Texas Nursing License or Compact Licensure.
