Registered Nurse (RN), Special Care Nursery, Unit Based Pool Tier II, PRN

PRN Tier II - work a minimum of 36 hours per month, including two 12-hour weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday)

Holidays - one 12-hour holiday shift in the summer and one in the winter

General Summary

A clinically competent professional who utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver care to patients on an assigned unit.

  • Assesses and documents the physical, psychosocial, educational, spiritual/cultural, and discharge planning needs of the patient/family.
  • Develops and updates a prioritized plan of care based on medical diagnosis and patient/family needs.
  • Implements the plan through evidence-based interventions, including blood transfusions, medications, and IV therapy, demonstrating ability to function effectively in emergencies.
  • Maintains certifications such as NRP, fetal monitoring, and rhythm recognition; completes orientation and competencies for mother/baby RN; and for C-section recovery, completes Advanced Life Support skills for OB nurses.

Other responsibilities include setting priorities, providing health education, maintaining the Environment of Care, evaluating patient responses, ensuring compliance with quality measures and safety goals, and participating in professional development and quality improvement efforts.

Work Orientation & Experience
  • Prior experience in Medical/Surgical, Obstetrical, NICU, or Pediatric nursing is required.
  • All new RN team members must complete the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Hospital Breastfeeding Policy Training Program and six hours of additional training, regardless of experience level.
