Position Summary

Responsible to provide care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice and other standards established by profession/professional groups, regulating bodies/agents. Nursing care will be delivered in accordance with ECU Health and entity specific nursing policies, procedures and professional standards of care/practice. Responsible for the provision and coordination of nursing care to include the collection and analysis of assessment data, identification of expected outcomes and development of plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and other interdisciplinary team members. Identifies interventions to attain expected outcomes, implements the interventions identified in the plan of care, evaluates the progress of the patient/family toward attainment of outcomes, and documents the process. This care includes sensitivity to age specific and unique needs of the patient/family. Promotes and evaluates the effective functioning of the health care team. Collaborates with health care team members to meet the identified needs of the patient/family throughout the episode of care. Delegates tasks and activities as appropriate and governed by NC Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

• Assure healing without harm through use of safety habits and error prevention tools, periodic rounding, and engagement in daily safety huddle.
• Obtain and interpret initial and ongoing systematic patient/family assessment data, incorporating information from other appropriate sources.
• Use patient/family assessment data to formulate relevant nursing plan of care.
• Collaborate with patient/family/significant others and interdisciplinary team members to mutually formulate realistic and measurable outcomes based on clinical presentation and plan of care.
• Develop an individualized plan of care which includes learning needs to achieve optimal health and well‑being and transition across the continuum.
• Implement interventions identified in the plan of care with consideration for patients' needs across the life span.
• Systematically evaluate and document patient's progress based on expected outcomes and ongoing basis as identified in the patient's plan of care.
• Use informatics tools, principles, and practices to make health care safer, more effective, efficient, and patient centered by incorporating technologies into nursing practice.
• Collaborate with the health care team, shift to shift, discipline to discipline, site to site, in the organization of tasks and activities for the patient's care from admission to discharge according the plan of care.
• Delegate appropriate tasks/activities commensurate with educational preparation and demonstrated abilities of the persons supervised.
• Communicate effectively with patients/families and other members of the health care team.
• Promote the professional development of self and team members.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement efforts.
• Analyze clinical situations in a systematic way and act to obtain resources or correct problems to best meet the patient's health care needs.
• Demonstrate team behaviors to support the effectiveness of the health care team and provide feedback to team members as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma in Nursing, Associates in Nursing or higher.
• Bachelors Degree is preferred.
• At least 1 year experience in acute patient care setting is required.
• Current NC RN license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state Health Care Provider is required.
• Basic Life Support is required.
• Flexibility in scheduling to meet the twenty four (24) hour needs of the patients.
• Possess organizational, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.
• Ability to utilize effective and confidential communication in patient, interdisciplinary, and staff relationships.
• Maintains stable performance levels under conditions of pressure and multiple demands.
• Working knowledge and experience with PC‑based applications.

Location: ECU Health Beaufort Hospital - Oncology
Shift: PRN - Days
Hours: PRN requires a minimum of 12 hrs worked per six‑week scheduling period (Monday through Friday 8 am‑5 pm)

On‑Call: No

Pay Range

$33.00 - $51.98
