Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital is seeking a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) to provide compassionate, timely care to sexual assault victims in the Emergency Unit. The role includes forensic exams, pregnancy/STI prophylaxis, documentation, and coordination of follow-up care and legal proceedings.

Applicants must hold a valid RN license in Illinois, unrestricted DL, and current BLS; completion of Illinois SANE training is required with Pediatric SANE training within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Unrestricted State DL.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Completed approved Illinois SANE training (40 hours of Didactic coursework)
• Complete the initial Pediatric SANE training within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, non-judgmental care to the sexual assault victim including a forensic exam and referrals for follow-up.
• Follow SANE program protocols and documentation standards.
• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation.

Responsibilities

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. This will include a forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings. The SANE is expected to follow protocols established by the Medical Director and/or management of the SANE program for which the SANE is employed. The SANE is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

1. Current and valid state RN license.

3. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $36.41 to $55.19 hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
