Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, IL seeks a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) to provide forensic, medical, and psychological care to sexual assault victims. You will perform forensic exams, provide prophylaxis, document findings, and support legal processes within established SANE protocols.

The role requires Illinois SANE training, an active RN license, BLS, and completion of pediatric SANE training within six months.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Unrestricted State DL
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Completed approved Illinois SANE training (40 hours of Didactic coursework)
• Complete the initial Pediatric SANE training within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to sexual assault victims, including forensic exam and prophylaxis.
• Document findings and coordinate referrals for medical and psychological follow-up.
• Follow SANE program protocols and nursing process for safe patient care.

Responsibilities

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. This will include a forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings. The SANE is expected to follow protocols established by the Medical Director and/or management of the SANE program for which the SANE is employed. The SANE is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits and other forms of compensation, is $36.41 to $55.19 hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
