Connections Health Solutions in Chantilly, VA is hiring a Registered Nurse to assess individuals in crisis and document triage, behavioral and medical health needs as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires crisis intervention and de-escalation skills, ability to administer medications, record orders, and provide education to patients and families about diagnoses and treatment options. Shift differentials and comprehensive benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted active RN license.
• Ability to perform Safe Clinch restraint techniques.
• BLS certification from AHA.
• ASAM 3.7 competency in alcohol/drug focused nursing assessment.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

• Pass Virginia background checks as required.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

We are hiring aRegistered Nurse (RN) who assess individuals and documents pertinent information including Triage, Behavioral Health, Physical Health, and/or Substance Abuse issues. Demonstrates knowledge of Crisis Intervention and the ability to de-escalate potentially aggressive situations and will provide education to consumers and their families regarding Behavioral Health diagnosis, medications, and treatments.

• Completes detailed Nursing Assessments with individuals and documents pertinent information including Triage, Medical/Behavioral Health assessments and medication administration utilizing appropriate assessment tools. Accurately record all medication brought in by individual on medication reconciliation/storage form.
• Plans individual treatment as part of the Multidisciplinary Clinical team.
• Provides education concerning Psychiatric diagnosis, treatment options, psychopharmacology, and overall health literacy to individuals, families and all others involved in the individual’s care.
• Intervenes with appropriate verbal interventions to diffuse out of control or potentially dangerous behaviors. Demonstrates ability to effectively use therapeutic option theory and techniques and can describe and demonstrate their roles and responsibilities.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Seclusion/Restraint standards, guidelines, techniques and initiate documentation and debriefing with individuals for any seclusion/restraint incidents as required.
• Accurately transcribes Provider orders and administers medications as prescribed. Attempts to have individual sign medication consent form. Performs chart checks and signs off as a second noted on medications prescribed. Draw labs and provide wound care as ordered by Providers when required.
• Complete nurse to nurse at discharge or when accepting individual from another facility.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

• Graduated from an accredited Nursing program
• Unrestricted active license as Registered Professional Nurse through State Board of Nursing or hold a multistate licensure privilege
• Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques
• American Heart Association BLS
• Working on ASAM 3.7, the RN shall have competencies and experience in conducting an alcohol or other drug focused nursing assessment
• The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment
• State of Virginia Fingerprint Clearance
• Must be able to pass Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (VA DBHDS) background check
• Must be able to pass Virginia Department of Social Services (VA DSS) Office of Background Investigations - Central Registry Search
• Physical Requirements
  • Safely perform physical interventions (e.g., standing, pivoting, reaching, kneeling, lowering to the floor, and supporting another person’s weight)
  • Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Tolerate prolonged walking, standing, and observation in a fast-paced environment
  • Work with individuals who may exhibit agitation, aggression, or unpredictable behavior

It would be great if you had:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• At least 1 year of psychiatric, behavioral health, or relevant experience
• Previous emergency room or crisis psychiatric care experience
• Experience working with individuals with addiction and addiction management
