Job summary

Mercy is seeking an experienced RN for the Neurology 8 East unit (Medical 8 East). The part-time RN will provide direct patient care using the nursing process, perform assessments, and coordinate care with the care team.

You will document care and protect patient confidentiality while aligning with Mercy’s mission and standards. Experience in acute care or neurology is valued; new grads are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• Active RN license in Missouri or compact state (or eligibility).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (or within 30 days of hire).
• New graduate nurses are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process.
• Perform ongoing patient assessments and care coordination.
• Document care accurately and maintain patient confidentiality.

About the Unit

Neurology 8 East cares for patients with conditions such as strokes, seizures, brain tumors, and brain bleeds. Nurses gain valuable experience with complex neuro assessments, safety-focused care, and close collaboration with neurology providers and therapy teams.

About the Role

The Neurology RN provides direct patient care using the nursing process while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include ongoing patient assessments, care coordination, documentation, and delivering compassionate, patient-centered care consistent with Mercy's mission and values.

This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy clinical complexity, teamwork, and continuous skill development.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact state
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (or within 30 days of hire)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Prior hospital or acute-care nursing experience
• Specialty certifications

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and assist up to 50 pounds
• Prolonged standing and walking
• Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and assist patients safely
