La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring PRN/Registry Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift for the inpatient unit in Chicago, IL.

Job Summary:
We are a small children’s acute care hospital focused on treating complex medical conditions, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and abuse and trauma. Our nurses are focused on providing exceptional patient care to children while helping families face unique challenges.
The Registered Nurse focuses on developing skills to guide him/her over a continuum of basic patient care through more complex assignments, assessing the needs of acute and chronically ill children using effective communication with patients/families and team members. The Staff Registered Nurse uses the nursing process in a family-centered interdisciplinary context to coordinate care and achieve team goals.
Essential PRN/Registry Registered Nurse Functions
- Performs comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments, identifies patient problems, implements interventions per care plans or policies, and evaluates outcomes, seeking guidance when needed.
- Accurately documents patient assessments, interventions, responses, and transcribes/verifies medical orders using both manual and electronic systems.
- Ensures safe, high-quality care by adhering to clinical policies, maintaining equipment knowledge, practicing infection control, and preparing for regulatory surveys.
- Actively engages in quality improvement by incorporating feedback, monitoring indicators, completing occurrence reports, and staying informed through professional reading.
- Provides tailored patient and family education, sets shared goals, evaluates learning outcomes, and ensures discharge instructions and educational resources are appropriate.
- Demonstrates leadership through effective communication, delegation, collaboration, participation in staff meetings and continuing education, while maintaining required certifications like BLS/PALS.
What we need from you:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
- Related Work Experience: Pediatric Experience required, PICU & NICU preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois; CPR Required (only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted)

Compensation Information
- Level I
- Must have 2-4 years of Pediatric Experience required, PICU & NICU preferred.
- Must work 2–12-hour shifts within a 6-week period
- Hourly Rate $60.00
- Level II
- Must have 5+ years of Pediatric Experience required, PICU & NICU preferred.
- Must work 2–12-hour shifts within a 6-week period
- Hourly Rate $70.00
