Summary of position

Under supervision of the Unit Manager/ADON/DON, the RN – PRN assumes responsibility for a group of residents/patients during a shift. Care is provided through assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the care plan. The RN adheres to care standards, manages the environment for resident/patient safety, and supervises nursing assistants and helpers. Follows all North Shore policies and procedures, the State Nurse Practice Act, and applicable JCAHO standards.

This position requires working a minimum of 3 shifts, each 8 hours, and no more than 10 shifts per month, including summer and winter holidays.

Requirements of the position

Required Education and Experience

• Licensed in the State as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to use supplies and equipment (feeding pumps, oxygen, treatment trays, medication cart, etc.)
• Ability to calculate drug dosages
• Meet all health requirements imposed by law
• Ability to relate positively and effectively with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and staff
• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
• Basic computer skills with aptitude to learn company applications

Preferred Education and Experience

• Experience in a fast-paced environment
• Previous post-acute care experience preferred
