Unit Description

The 2N Telemetry Unit (Progressive Care Unit) is a fast-paced, 24-bed collaborative unit caring for Adult Telemetry patients. We pride ourselves on teamwork and a pleasant working atmosphere. Patients have various medical conditions, including chest pain, NSTEMI, diabetes, sepsis, cancer, pneumonia, asthma, COPD, pulmonary emboli, DVT, CHF, anemia, renal disease, HTN, appendicitis, pancreatitis, cholecystitis, and vascular disease.

Procedures include blood transfusions, IV therapy, antiarrhythmic and anticoagulant therapy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, arteriograms, endoscopy, small bowel follow-through, cholecystograms, ERCPs, PEG feedings, dialysis, chest tube insertion, oxygen therapy, and respiratory treatments. 2N is an excellent place to start or develop your nursing career.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care – St. Mary's Hospital

Job Summary

The Progressive Care (Step down) RN provides exceptional nursing care by:

1. Assessing patient status with strong organizational and leadership skills
2. Serving as a liaison between Med-Surg and ICU units
3. Prioritizing patient problems and needs
4. Developing and implementing care plans to improve outcomes
5. Ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment

Essential Functions

• Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team
• Conducting initial and ongoing assessments, creating care plans, and evaluating treatment effectiveness
• Coordinating patient care across departments
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives
• Administering medications safely per policies
• Performing other duties as assigned

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred but not required

Certifications

• Current RN licensure in the state
• BLS certification preferred but not required

Experience

• At least 1 year of RN experience required
• 6 months of RN experience in an acute care hospital preferred
