Overview

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers specialized surgical and medical services in a comfortable, innovative environment with private rooms, multiple operating rooms, and an ICU. The campus features a park-like setting with walking paths connecting to Millennium Park.

The Perioperative Services team partners with physicians and healthcare professionals to provide excellent surgical care, combining the intimacy of a small community hospital with the resources of BJC HealthCare and Washington University Medical School. Our dedicated staff continually strive to improve community health.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing care standards.

Responsibilities
  • Promotes patient and family-centered care, educating on illness management, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and compliance, and engages in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents care plans with collaborative input, ensuring communication across the continuum.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient values and barriers.
  • This position is safety-sensitive; the ability to work alert and safely is essential.
