Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Postpartum

Casual - (2) 12-hour shifts required in a 4-week schedule

Summer Casual Program dates:

Start date : 06/23/2025

End date : 08/25/2025

The Postpartum Unit (6M/7M) is a 72-bed inpatient unit that cares for postpartum patients and their stable newborns in the Women’s and Children’s Building on the Newark campus.

The average length of stay is 2-3 days post birth and the unit supports rooming in and family centered care. A couplet care model is utilized so that an RN will be assigned both the delivered parent as well as the newborn as a portion of their overall assignment. A nursery is maintained primarily for emergency management or for short term convalescent care. Postpartum staff also support the care of newborns in our substance withdrawal program.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BSN required or commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire
  • Two years RN experience within Postpartum or Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) required
  • Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Delaware
  • BLS certification required
  • NRP certification required
