Job summary

Qualifications

  • At least 6 months experience with electronic health record, phlebotomy, vitals, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, immunizations, IVs, referral tracking and assisting with clinical procedures

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs and document in chart.
  • Ensure related reports, labs and information are available in medical records prior to appointment
  • Secure patient information by maintaining records and confidentiality
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examinations and assist provider
  • Disinfect, clean rooms and maintain a safe environment
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with supplies and maintain instruments
  • Maintain logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temps, meds, oxygen)
  • Take messages and provide feedback to patients/pharmacists
  • Interview patients to obtain medical history
  • Record medical history, vitals and test results
  • Perform routine screening tests (height, weight, BP)
  • Administer injections (if certified)
  • Call patients with lab results as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN)assists providers and other medical staff by performing

administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a licensed medical provider.

Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records. Clinical duties may include, preparing patient charts, preparing treatment room for patient exams, recording patient medical history and lab results, cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment, drawing blood, and administering injections.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient's chart.
  • Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filled out and available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations; Assist provider in exam rooms
  • Disinfects, cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations; Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required; Properly disposes of contaminated supplies
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
  • Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
  • Interviews patients to obtain their medical history
  • Records patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files.
  • Performs routine screening tests, such as height and weight measurements and blood pressure checks.
  • Administers injections (if certified) as ordered by the provider
  • Calls patient to alert them of lab/test results, as assigned by the provider.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure in good standing for the state of SC or Compact License.
  • CPR and first aid certification required;
  • Experience with EHR, MS Word, Excel, Outlook
