Job summary

The Northwell Health Neonatal ICU is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN-PD) to provide age-specific care with a focus on leadership in a high-acuity environment. You will use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for neonates and their families.

The ideal candidate is an RN with NY state license, BCLS certification, and at least 1 year of NICU experience; BSN preferred. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to maintain safety and deliver

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • New York State RN license required; BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year NICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' physiologic health status through interviews and chart reviews.
  • Determine mobility, sensory deficits, and skin condition to adjust care plans.
  • Communicate and document patients' physiologic health status and care plans.
  • Elicit patients' perceptions of care and identify coping mechanisms.
  • Develop criteria for measuring patient outcomes and identify potential problems.
  • Formulate and document the plan of care, coordinating with health team members.
  • Maintain constant vigilance over patient care and ensure safety precautions.
  • Administer prescribed treatments and medications accurately and safely.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their significant others.
  • Participate in patient and family education, evaluating the effectiveness of teaching.

About This Role

The Registered Nurse (RN-PD) in the Neonatal ICU is responsible for providing age-specific care to a designated group of patients using the nursing process. This role is ideal for nurses who excel in collaboration and leadership within a critical care environment.
