Job summary

Job description

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Provide care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on the medical/surgical unit.
  • Offer physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients and their families.
  • Care for a broad patient population including pediatrics, pre and post PCI care, pacemaker, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and various surgical services.
  • Assess patients with potential deteriorating conditions and apply skilled assessment and intervention tools as needed.
  • Operate advanced medical equipment and care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and patients requiring short-term ventilation support.
  • Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Interact with patients and significant others while maintaining professional nursing standards.
  • Assess and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Act as a clinical leader and assist with precepting staff.
  • Provide direct patient care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning, and give direction to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, Housekeeping Staff, and Dietary Staff.
  • Receive direction from Providers, Charge Nurse, and Chief Nursing Officer.
Qualifications
Education

Degree from a Nursing Program.

Experience

Practice in an advanced Medical/Surgical Unit and recent Critical Care or Progressive Care Nursing is required.

License/Certifications
  • Current State of Montana RN Licensure
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire
  • EPNC, TNCC certification preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Use of basic office equipment; use of multiple IV pumps; operate advanced medical equipment including A-lines, invasive lines, chest tubes, ventilatory support (noninvasive and invasive), basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation.
  • Advanced Nursing Principles and Procedures; Pediatric experience preferred.
