We are currently seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join a specialized clinical team. This position is ideal for an RN looking for a supportive clinical environment that emphasizes excellent nurse-to-patient ratios, robust administrative backing, and a strong culture of teamwork and compassion.

Tucked into a scenic Montana community known for an exceptional quality of life and outdoor recreation, this role provides an ideal balance of professional clinical development and personal lifestyle stability.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized, direct nursing care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on an advanced medical/surgical and stepdown unit.
  • Manage a broad and diverse patient population, including pre/post-PCI care, pacemaker placements, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, sepsis, and a wide scope of complex surgical cases.
  • Utilize skilled assessment and intervention tools to closely monitor for, recognize, and stabilize potentially deteriorating clinical conditions.
  • Operate and manage advanced medical equipment, including arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, multiple titration IV pumps, and short‑term ventilatory support.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams from admission through comprehensive discharge planning.
  • Act as a clinical leader on the floor, assisting with precepting new staff and providing directional support to LPNs, CNAs, and ancillary teams.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Montana (or immediate compact/endorsement eligibility).
  • Certifications: Core certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required (or must be obtained within 6 months of hire). EPNC and TNCC certifications are highly preferred.
  • Required Experience: Proven post‑graduate clinical practice in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit combined with recent Critical Care (ICU) or Progressive Care (PCU/Stepdown) nursing experience.
  • Preferred Experience: Dedicated pediatric nursing experience is highly desired.
  • Core Skills: Proficiency in basic cardiac telemetry, EKG interpretation, advanced nursing principles, and standard office/computer software.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance packages.
  • Robust retirement savings plan with a generous employer matching contribution.
  • Fully covered medical malpractice insurance.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) allocation to support a healthy work‑life balance.

Note on Compensation & Hiring Requirements: In compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, final hourly wage offers are calculated based upon multiple criteria, including job classification, internal equity, specialized skill sets, and verified years of experience.
