Job summary

Dartmouth Health in Lebanon, NH seeks a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care across pediatric to geriatric patients in a fast-paced setting. The nurse will apply the nursing process, clinical judgment, physician orders, and established standards of care.

Requirements include a NH RN license, BCLS on hire, ACLS and PALS within 90 days, and 2–3 years in critical or emergency care. Competitive pay and full benefits accompany the role.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise patient care with the health care team.
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and plan of care.
  • Demonstrate priority setting and critical thinking in daily tasks.

PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Position Objective

The nurse is accountable and responsible to the patient for providing nursing care in accordance with the New Hampshire Nurse Practice Act and the Patient Bill of Rights to meet the needs of pediatric through geriatric patients utilizing the nursing process, clinical judgment, physician’s orders, the American Society of Post Anesthesia Nursing Standards, American Academy of Ambulatory Nursing Standards, and the medical plan of care.

Performance Expectation
  • Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
  • Follows theseven medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  • Performs patient care using an integrated approach that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
  • Ability to formulate an individual plan of care, revise plan as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan for effectiveness.
  • Communicates clinical information appropriately to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. Collaborates with all ancillary departments.
  • Coordinates and supervises patient care, as necessary.
  • Demonstrates an ability to organize and prioritize job function.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Performs physical/psychosocial assessment to collect data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines.
  • Utilizes assessment data to identify patient care needs, to include patient education and discharge planning.
  • Recognizes and reports abnormal assessment data and incorporates findings into the plan of care: validates and revises expected outcomes based on assessment.
  • Accurately and legibly documents all patient care activities, including but not limited to, wound assessment, patient care teaching, demonstrated progress toward goals, medication administration, nursing flow sheets and all assessment forms.
  • Delegates tasks to the health care team members appropriately.
  • Demonstrates unit specific competencies.
