Inova Fairfax Medical Campus seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Overflow Unit. This full-time role covers 12-hour day shifts (7am–7pm) with sign-on bonus eligibility and relocation assistance. The unit cares for a diverse patient population across med/surg/telemetry, pulmonary, diabetes, renal, and hypertension.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
• RN license in Virginia or eligibility for multi-state licensure.
• Minimum 1 year RN clinical experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Telemetry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting data sets.
• Develop individualized care plans based on assessments and trends.
• Deliver patient- and family-centered care throughout the continuum.
• Advocate for patients' rights and coordinate services for transitions.
• Document care activities and support the healthcare team with records.
• Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and quality outcomes.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Overflow Unit. This role will be Full Time, Days. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

The Overflow Unit patient population consists of those with a variety of diagnoses: med/surg/telemetry, pulmonary, diabetes, renal, hypertension.

Work schedule: 12 hour days(7am – 7pm)

The Registered Nurse provides knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patients, families, nurses and healthcare delivery teams. Consistently provides safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way while incorporating differences into the provision of care and conducting all patient care in a patient/family centered manner. Integrates knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others while having respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines. Determines processes for delivery of care from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
• Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues
• Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentationEvaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care
• Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members
• Communicates effectively, works cooperatively with others, and has respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines
• Assists staff to assess patients' learning needs and outcomes measurement of patient education
• Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a clinical resource, preceptor, and mentor and delegates patient care activities and coordinates unit activities as needed
• Utilizes standards, guidelines and pathways for care delivery and ensures that the process for delivery of care is synthesized from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration
• Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record
• Evaluates clinical and quality outcomes and contributes to performance improvement initiatives
• May perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience. T

Certification: BLS from American Heart Association (AHA)

Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license

Preferred qualifications: telemetry experience
