The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. Our unit is comprised of 24 in-patient beds. Our patient population includes admissions from the Ortho Joint, Spine, Fracture, and Ortho/Trauma centers, as well as medical/surgical patients. The nursing unit enjoys a supportive team environment including resources such as a unit-based nurse educator, orthopedic navigator, respiratory therapy, PT/OT, nursing care partners, unit coordinators, charge nurse and manager.
