Job Shift: Shift 1
Shift Details: Day/Eve Per Diem Position, 16 hrs per month or 96 hrs in 6 month period. One holiday commitment

Job Summary:

· Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:

  1. Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  2. Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  3. Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  4. Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  5. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess patients and to identify physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and age-related needs in order to provide individualized care to the patient.
  6. Delegates aspects of care to other nursing personnel consistent with their level of education and expertise in order to meet patients' needs and to maximize staff performance.
  7. Participates in daily interdisciplinary patient rounds. Demonstrates knowledge of patients' condition and is able to provide appropriate input to meet desired outcomes for the appropriate patient population.
  8. Reflects ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice (2015), ANA Code of Ethics (2015), and ANA Social Policy Statement (2015).
  9. Develops, implements and revises individualized plans of care.
  10. Participates in activities for professional growth and development outside of patient care.
  11. Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  2. Current Connecticut RN license.
  3. BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
  4. Associate degree required; BSN preferred.
  5. Strong knowledge of cardiology.
  6. Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills.
