Registered Nurse, RN, Ortho and Neuro Surgical Unit Weekender

Position Overview

• Location: Janesville, WI
• Unit: Ortho/Neuro Surgical Unit
• Type: Full-time weekender position, working 24 of 26 weekends
• Shift: Night shift 6:30pm-7am
• Hours: 72 hours/2 weeks
• Additional: Weekender pay differential, requires 1 year RN experience

Provides compassionate, culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care to patients, supporting Mercyhealth's mission, values, and strategic plan. May include variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call hours. Performs duties including floating to various units based on needs and competencies.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

• Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
• Administers medications and treatments per policies, procedures, standards, and laws.
• Documents care according to standards.
• Performs assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluations.
• Develops and executes individualized patient care plans.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Supports other units with clinical expertise.
• Prioritizes patient safety and escalates issues appropriately.
• Engages in professional development and peer review processes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; ADN required, BSN preferred.
• Licensed RN in the state of practice.
• CPR/BLS certification within 90 days; other certifications as required.

• Background checks, driver’s license check if applicable.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Skills and Abilities

May include color vision testing as per department guidelines.

Work Environment

Moderate noise level; occupational exposure category A.
