Registered Nurses are responsible for utilizing the nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention, documentation, and evaluation—to provide direct and indirect patient care based on their assigned area(s). They follow nursing department philosophies, policies, and procedures to develop individualized education and care plans for each patient and to provide appropriate education and support for family members.
RNs use judgment, knowledge, and an understanding of patient and family needs when directing ancillary staff. They are responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction among patients, families, physicians, and others, maintaining patient confidentiality, and addressing age‑specific needs for comfort, privacy, and generalized care. Incumbents of this position will annually complete the attached competency requirements specific to their area(s) of responsibility.
