Job summary

Hartford Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse for the Ambulatory Surgery Center and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to support preoperative and postoperative patient care. You will work within a collaborative team to deliver evidence-based care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role requires 8-hour shifts between 5:00am and 7:30pm with potential variations due to patient needs. CT RN license and BSN are required, with 1–2 years of Medical/Surgical experience and BLS certification.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Description

In this role you will be working with patients in an Ambulatory Surgery center both preparing them for their surgery, and then caring for them in the Post Anesthesia Care area (PACU) We care for both the inpatient and outpatient population. You will possess the ability to care for patients in the pre-operative and post-operative care setting.

Our Nurses work in collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focused on a patient centered care model in a richly diverse work space. Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse utilizes evidence based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff. The registered nurse who through knowledge and ability uses the nursing process to develop a plan of care which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family.

• Must be available to work 8 hour shifts between the hours of 5:00am and 7:30pm M-F
• May be later than 7:30 pm depending on patient care needs
• There are not any 10 or 12 hour shifts available on this unit

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
• Registered Nurse with 1-2 years of current Medical/Surgical experience required.
• Requires a person who is highly motivated, energetic and organized, must be able to multitask.
• Looking for person who has leadership skills and is willing to take on projects and tasks as determined by the needs of the department.
• Looking for someone who has demonstrated ability to be in the resource role on their unit.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
