University Hospitals Pain Management in Ohio is launching a 15-week, full-time paid perioperative nursing program. The cohort equips RNs to serve as scrub and circulating nurses in the Operating Room, with the goal of building a long-standing OR career.
The program blends classroom lectures, mock surgeries, and mentored clinical experiences. The next cohort starts September 8, 2026, with orientation continuing as you gain knowledge across OR specialties.
Schedule- Monday-Friday 7a – 3:30p, plus call. Call for nurses is usually 1-2 weeknights per week from 3:30p to 7a the next morning, plus one 24 hour call shift on either Saturday or Sunday about every 4th to 5th weekend. Nurses also cover 24 hours of holiday call when it is their turn but this is just one holiday (or eve) per year.
This 15 week full-time paid program, is designed to teach RNs the scrub and circulating role in the Operating Room with the expectation of a long-standing career in an OR setting. The Perioperative Program provides classroom lecture, skill development during mock surgeries and precepted clinical experiences that are integrated to facilitate your success. Following successful program completion, orientation and training continues as you gain knowledge and skills in other clinical OR specialties. Our next cohort starts September 8 2026!
