Job summary

St. Francis–Emory Healthcare in Columbus, GA is seeking a Registered Nurse - Surgery to provide direct and comprehensive perioperative nursing care for surgical patients across age groups in a busy acute care setting.

You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate care, educate patients and families about procedures and recovery, and support transfers and discharges while maintaining safety and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• RN license in the state of practice.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience; perioperative or surgical services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient-centered nursing care based on established standards of care and the nursing process.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed and in accordance with policy.
• Documents all aspects of patient care clearly and accurately.
• Monitors, evaluates, and communicates patient condition to healthcare team, patient, and family.
• Coordinates and collaborates with surgical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
• Participates in patient transfer, discharge, and referrals as needed.
• Educates patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse - Surgery (RN-Surgery) provides direct and comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients within an acute care hospital setting. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN-Surgery assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes. This role supports surgical interventions across all age groups and ensures patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the perioperative process.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required within timeframe specified in facility policy)

Experience

• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred
• Previous perioperative or surgical services experience strongly preferred
