RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Level 1 Trauma Center Main Operating Room in New Brunswick, NJ. The Cardiac OR Nurse will deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical setting, collaborating with surgeons and anesthesiologists to improve outcomes.

The role requires ASN or Nursing Diploma with 1 year OR RN experience or periop 101 graduate, BLS/ACLS, NJ RN license, and day shift scheduling. BSN preferred, with CNOR encouraged.

Qualifications

• ASN or Nursing Diploma is required.
• Minimum 1 year OR RN experience or periop 101 program completed.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the operating room per nurse practice act and standards.
• Maintain patient safety and adherence to evidence-based practices.
• Report safety issues and environmental hazards.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and care team.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and supervise team members.
• Manage priorities and care plans for each patient.

Qualifications:

Required:

• ASN or Nursing Diploma
• Minimum of one 1 year OR RN experience or recent graduate of a periop 101 program
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient computer skills

Preferred:

• BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire
• CNOR

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• BLS and ACLS certification
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements:

• Day Shift, 40hours per week6:00a-4:30pm
• Weekends, Holidays and on call as assigned

Essential Functions:

• The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
• The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
• The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
