Job summary

Shriners Children's is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults undergoing surgical and procedural interventions.

You will advocate for patients through preop, intraop, and postop phases, supporting safe, family-centered, evidence-based surgical practice; Texas RN license and 2+ years OR experience required.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required or in progress.
• Texas RN license.
• 2+ years OR experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care to pediatric patients in the operating room.
• Assist the physician to implement the plan of care and ensure continuity between patient care units and the OR.

Job Description

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) provides comprehensive perioperative nursing care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults undergoing surgical and procedural interventions. The nurse serves as a patient advocate throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of care while supporting safe, family-centered, evidence-based surgical practice.

Key Responsibilities

• The OR Registered Nurse provides nursing care to our pediatric patients within the operating room, performs assessments and interventions designed to keep the patients safe during surgery.
• Assists the physician in accomplishing the plan of care for the patient and to provide continuity between the patient care unit and the Operating Room.

Required Qualifications

• BSN degree required or in progress
• Texas RN license
• 2+ years OR experience

Preferred Qualifications

• CNOR highly preferred
• Scrub experience
• Prior pediatric acute care, plastic reconstructive surgery, orthopedic and spine experience a plus.

Compensation

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
