Job summary

Shriners Children's St. Louis seeks an OR Registered Nurse to deliver compassionate pediatric perioperative care in a team-based environment. You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia and nursing staff to ensure safe, family-centered care before, during and after surgery.

Enjoy a 3/10 dayshift schedule with opportunities for growth. BSN required or in progress; Missouri RN license; BLS and PALS within one year of employment. CNOR preferred; prior pediatric OR experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required or in progress.
• Missouri RN license.
• 2+ years OR experience.
• BLS certification.
• PALS certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• The OR Registered Nurse provides nursing care to our pediatric patients within the operating room, performs assessments and interventions designed to keep the patients safe during surgery.
• Involves patient, family, and health care team members in formulating an appropriate individualized plan of care and identifies expected outcomes based on nursing assessment and diagnosis.
• Implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family, and health care team members.
• Ensures all components of the plan of care are documented in the patient health record.
• Evaluates the patient/family's understanding of and response to the plan of care.
• Utilizes teaching strategies appropriate to the individual patient's condition and learning needs.
• Assists the physician in accomplishing the plan of care for the patient and to provide continuity between the patient care unit and the Operating Room.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (within one year of employment)

Preferred Qualifications

• CNOR highly preferred
• Prior pediatric acute care, plastic reconstructive surgery, orthopedic and spine experience a plus

Compensation

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
