Inova Schar Cancer Institute is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Oncology Phone Triage in a PRN role. Position supports clinic operations with remote work eligibility and no night shifts. Remote work policy includes state residency requirements.

Qualified candidates have a BSN, at least 1 year RN experience, and BLS certification. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to coordinate care with the oncology team.

Qualifications

• 1 year of RN clinical experience is required.
• BSN from an accredited school of nursing; if ADN, must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• BLS certification required.
• Licensed RN in the state of employment.
• Proficient in English; strong verbal and written communication; interpersonal skills and a caring demeanor; proficient computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs biopsychosocial assessments on patients.
• Provides medications and treatments to patients.
• Serves as a resource for patients and families regarding medical questions.
• Develops plan of care.
• Works with the interdisciplinary team to assist adult patient to meet treatment goals; reports to the Clinical Director.

Job Description

Inova Schar Cancer Institute is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team. This is a PRN position working Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:30 or 8:30 - 5:00. Our Cancer Institutes are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00. We are closed on the weekends and there are no night shifts or on-call hours!

Phone Triage Registered Nurse for the Oncology Clinics with our Inova Schar Cancer Institute. This is a fully remote PRN role.

Inova's remote work policy requires that remote employees currently reside in one of the following states: VA, MD, DC, DE, FL, GA, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, WV

The Registered Nurse provides knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patients, families, nurses and healthcare delivery teams. Consistently provides safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way while incorporating differences into the provision of care and conducting all patient care in a patient/family centered manner. Integrates knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others while having respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines. Determines processes for delivery of care from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience Required: 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience
• Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Certification: BLS certification required.
• Licensure - Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• Special Skills - Proficient in English. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor toward others. Proficient computer skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous Oncology experience strongly preferred
• Previous Chemotherapy Infusion experience strongly preferred
• Preferred PRN availability 2-3 days per week (M-F schedule)
