Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Oncology and Hematology Clinic at the Phillips Cancer Center. This full-time, day-shift role supports six physicians and three APPs, with 8-hour days and four 9-hour shifts, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, no nights or weekends.

The RN will perform rooming, vital signs, IV placement, port access, and phlebotomy, while coordinating care across a multidisciplinary team in a high-volume outpatient

Overview

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for our Oncology and Hematology Clinic at the Phillips Cancer Center. This is a full time, Day shift position in Charlottesville, VA.

Hours : Four 9-hour shifts, 8AM to 5PM between Monday to Friday with rotating days off. No nights or weekends.

Sign on bonus of $10,000 available for qualified candidates.

About the position

The Oncology Clinic RN will assist six physicians and three advanced practice providers within the physician's clinic group at the Cancer Center with rooming patients, vital signs, IV placement, port access, and phlebotomy. This position will also assist providers with care coordination for oncology patient populations to develop, participate and monitor multidisciplinary collaboration of services. The Center can expect to see between 80-90 patients per day. This role is expanding and will include additional duties within care coordination.

Expert knowledge of a variety of cancer treatments includes:

• Chemotherapy
• Biotherapy
• Hormonal therapy
• Targeted therapy

A broad range of supportive therapies to reduce or prevent anticipated side effects of treatment are available. The Sentara Martha Jefferson Infusion Center is on site at our offices, offering a safe, convenient and comfortable environment where patients can receive intravenous infusions and therapeutic injections.

The Physician Practice and Clinic Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in a physician practice or ambulatory clinic setting. Reporting to practice or nursing leadership, this role assesses patients, assists with procedures and examinations, administers medications and immunizations, and provides patient education and care coordination. The nurse manages triage, follow-up, and communication with patients between visits and coordinates with physicians and office staff. This role matters because skilled outpatient nursing supports chronic disease management, prevention, and continuity of care. The nurse handles clinical documentation in the electronic health record, supports population health outreach, and helps the practice run safely and efficiently.

Minimum required competencies

• Skilled ambulatory assessment and triage.

Education

Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing required

BSN or MSN Preferred

Certification / Licensure

• Registered Nurse Licensure
• ONC certified RN preferred
• BLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience

• 2 years of acute nursing preferred
• Oncology Nursing experience preferred
• Cancer experience Preferred
• Infusion experience preferred
• One to two years of ambulatory, clinic, or medical-surgical nursing experience is preferred.
