Job summary

UC Health is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Labor & Delivery unit at West Chester hospital, night shift. The OB unit serves a diverse patient population with pregnancies complicated by diabetes, cardiac issues, preterm labor and preeclampsia in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Associate's Degree minimum; BSN preferred.
• 2+ years obstetrics/gynecology experience preferred.
• Current OH RN License.
• BLS/ACLS/PALS as department requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient with the team and family.
• Communicates plan of care to all levels involved and sets priorities based on patient needs.
• Delivers clear instructions to patients and families regarding treatment and continuing care.
• Identifies and responds to behavioral health or cultural needs of patients.
• Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility and teamwork on the unit.
• Documents nursing process accurately per hospital policy.
• Acts as a resource and mentor for new personnel and float staff.
• Pursues personal and professional development.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing. The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age-specific.

• Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
• Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs.
• Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
• Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
• Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
• Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
• Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
• Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Associate's Degree, minimum required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred
• Obstetrics/Gynecology: 2+ years equivalent experience preferred
• Current OH RN License
• BLS/ACLS/PALS per department requirements based on patient population needs.
