Registered Nurse (RN) - Observation Unit, Nightshift

Join WVU Hospitals — Ruby Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Observation Unit, Nightshift.

This role involves delivering nursing care using the nursing process, applying clinical knowledge, and exercising independent judgment to ensure quality patient outcomes. The nurse must demonstrate foundational knowledge to provide relevant care across the lifespan, assessing and interpreting patient data to meet individual needs in an inpatient hospital setting.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Registered Professional Nurses or equivalent state board, or multi-state licensure via eNLC.
  • Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 60 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
Experience
  • Less than 12 months of nursing experience.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure safety and continuity of care through documentation and handoff processes.
  • Create care plans based on assessments, diagnoses, interventions, and evaluations.
  • Recognize and address patient safety concerns.
  • Provide patient education tailored to individual needs.
  • Perform thorough assessments and documentation.
  • Use evidence-based practices and participate in patient-centered care models.
  • Document issues and participate in ongoing learning and growth.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move patients using appropriate equipment, with a limit of 35 pounds manually.
  • Work requires stamina, strength, and visual and auditory acuity.
Work Environment
  • Work involves irregular hours, biohazards, infectious diseases, and handling deceased patients.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Critical thinking and adaptability under stress.
